Rudd Equipment is a heavy equipment distributor based in Louisville, KY, with 12 locations. As the exclusive distributor in the Midwest for internationally recognized heavy machinery manufacturers, including Volvo, Hitachi, Sandvik, and Link-Belt, functional, up-to-date technology is vital for Rudd Equipment.
Rudd faced multiple challenges, including aging carrier equipment, bandwidth restraints, legacy copper MPLS network, chronic outages, and security concerns. The customer also had goals to transition core business applications to the cloud and desired increased dedicated Internet bandwidth to support the new environment. Bluewave was engaged to engineer and present multiple co-managed SD-WAN providers and dual Internet connections for all sites.
Bluewave implemented a co-managed SD-WAN solution that took Rudd from a legacy MPLS network to fiber-based Internet with secondary coax internet at all sites. With this solution, we were not only able to provide high bandwidth internet with diverse routes, but also replaced aging premise-based carrier equipment and provided integrated cloud-based security with the recommended SD-WAN solution.
Bluewave was successful in finding fiber-based Internet connections with diverse secondary Internet for all Rudd locations. The new SD-WAN solution puts Rudd Equipment in the perfect position to begin transitioning its applications to the cloud.
