Galen College of Nursing, formerly Galen Health Institutes, was established in Louisville, Kentucky in 1990. The college originally offered a one-year licensed practical nursing program (LPN) in three cities, including Louisville, San Antonio, Texas, and St. Petersburg, Florida. Since its establishment, the college has grown to span 9 in-person campuses across five states, online programming, and now offers Associate, Bachelor, and Master degree programs in addition to its LPN program.
Galen College of Nursing has been a client of Bluewave for more than 12 years, and the business relationship continues to strengthen as the college adds new campuses and offices. The college was still utilizing a legacy MPLS network when they came to Bluewave, seeking a more reliable and cost-effective solution for their campuses.
After conducting a telecommunications service and financial audit, Bluewave proposed an all-campus migration to an SD-WAN solution that would allow the college to utilize failover and maximize uptime. In tandem with the SD-WAN solution, each campus now boasts a redundant fiber connection and cable modem that connect to the onsite SD-WAN appliance. Additionally, the college locations were migrated from a PRI phone system to a centralized SIP trunking solution a few years ago.
This solution has allowed the college to reduce costs associated with the phone system and minimize maintenance time.
